The Czech Society for New Materials and Technologies (CSNMT), which was founded in 1993, is a voluntary association of individual and  collective members who reside in the Czech Republic (CR). It is governed by its own statutes. Since 1993 it has been a member of the Federation of European Materials Societies (FEMS), which embraces 22 materials societies from 20 European countries. Since 2004 it has been a member of the Czech Association of Scientific and Technical Societes (ÈSVTS), which is a voluntary organization of 66 independent scientific and technical Societies in the Czech Republic.

The activities of CSNMT are directed towards an all-round development of members’ creative abilities and professional knowledge, satisfying their technical and societal needs, supporting research and development in the area of new materials and technologies, inclusive of their applications in production practice, and supporting international cooperation.

The supreme body of the Society is the General Assembly. Day-to-day work between General Assembly meetings is managed by the management committee and the activities of the Society are controlled by the review commission.

At present the following organization units of CSNMT are active:

In May 1998, the Society instituted the CSNMT Award in recognition of life-long successful work in the field of materials science and materials engineering.

Since September 1999 the Society has been publishing for its members a CSNMT Bulletin bringing topical information. This bulletin/newsletter is sent to all members and all the issues can be found on the web-site of the Society.
